Fort Ross Open 7 Days a Week!

Starting July 1, 2011 through Labor Day

It is a pleasure to lead with good news: Fort Ross will be open 7 days a week, starting July 1, 2011.

We are particularly grateful to get this news in light of the Sacramento's State Parks closure list announced in May, where 40% of all California State Historic parks are slated for permanent closure. FRIA appreciates the support we've received from State Park brass at the Russian River district, as well as all our friends in high places who lobbied on behalf of Fort Ross.

Now we can start planning for our bicentennial in earnest!

Salt Point Park is open 7 days a week, including the Gerstle Cove and Woodside Campgrounds.

DVD cover

Thanks to a generous donation from Chevron and Russian companies Sovcomflot & TransNeft, FRIA is now selling a beautiful 18-minute documentary on the history of Fort Ross.  The film includes new and archival footage, as well as a passage read in Kashaya describing the indigenous people's oral history of the arrival of the first Russians.

The DVD shows in our Visitor Center and is for sale for $15.00 at the Fort Ross store, or call 707/847-3437 during business hours if you'd like to have it shipped to you. All proceeds benefit the Fort Ross Interpretive Association.
